Why 3D Printing Is Right For you

Four years of playing with 3D printers has taught me a lot about the “good the bad and the ugly” of this technology. But in truth, there are almost no reasons why you should not be involved in some form with either 3D modeling or 3D printing in your school, home or business. Simply stated, 3D printing is the future of everything. Yes, I know you see articles about people making prosthetic devices for missing arms and legs and even new ways to make replacement parts for broken equipment or cute toys and key chains. But the real reason you should get involved in 3D Printing is ……..YOU CAN MAKE MISTAKES ALL DAY LONG AND FAIL MISERABLY …and not get into trouble or feel like a loser.
Yes, “failure is an option” with 3D printing and I should know. Of the over 3,000 printed objects I have made on various 3D printers, perhaps 50% came out correctly the first time. Yes, half of the time I messed up or didn’t create the 3D model file correctly or used the wrong filament or just didn’t understand what I was doing. Yet, I could simply wipe ( or pull ) the failed object from the print platform and try again, often making the same mistake the second time only to find the fourth try actually worked. And, this could be done in one day. Imagine being able to not be perfect the first time or be able to not make the right decision for fear of rejection or worse yet, losing your job.Yes Timmy, there is a Santa Claus. And he lives in .stl land.
The other part of this present is the fun you will have making something you create. I have watched grown men make a simple key chain using a 3D modeling software like Tinkercad for the first time and then printing it out and holding it in their hand. You would have thought they found the fountain of youth. Making stuff is something we don’t do much any more in the U.S. and this technology is opens up a whole new world of possibilities with equipment that is less than $1,500.00 and can be placed on any small desk. A computer a 3D Printer and your imagination are all you need to print you way into Nirvana.
Here at LiteWorld we provide training for people of all ages. We just completed our four weeks of 3D Mini Camp for children ages 8 to 12 and they have more fun and tell us this is their favorite camp. We are now offering some intro classes for adults and should you live in the Southwest Florida area you can go to our website and go to our Training site and register to take some classes starting in late August.
LiteWorld is also a proud Reseller for the LulzBot TAZ line of 3D Printers. The best printers made in the USA and a true open source company. In addition we make our own enclosure for 3D Printers and this will fit over any of the LulzBot TAZ units and other 3D printers with an open frame design.
