LiteWorld Adds Markforged Mark Two and Digital Scanner
Keeping up with the rapid advances being made in 3D Printing ( Additive Manufacturing) has been challenging. The innovation cycles in this industry are shorter and greater in change than anything I have ever seen in my lifetime. There is no industry anywhere in the world that is not either using 3D printing for their prototyping and limited production processes or have invested in their first 3D printer to create new concepts for an old design.
Because of the success of LiteWorld and our ability to provide 3D Printers for over 25 schools and libraries in the Sarasota and Charlotte County areas some local businessmen have provided us with some major 3D products.
First, we now have a new Markforged Mark Two 3D Printer. This machine will print true Carbon Fiber, Kevlar, Fiberglas, Nylon and Onyx. It has two heads so we can print Carbon Fiber by itself or print Nylon with Carbon Fiber infill for strong parts. It is extremely easy to use tying into it’s Eigor cloud based software and surprisingly prints on a non-heated build platform. We have just started to play with this printer but it is a significant piece of equipment.
Second, we have been given an Escan 3D Scanner from 3D Digitial Corporation to both help us with reverse engineering of parts but also to train and educate the schools and Universities in our area on the value and use of this scanner. This is a commercial grade scanner so it actually works. We have tried other under $500 scanners with little or no success. This scanner is the price of a small car but it works like you think a scanner should work. Once you get used to the software and setting up the scanned part area, it is relatively easy to use.
LiteWorld is moving forward with its plans to become a major educator and provider of all things 3D. Our next venture is in the Augmented Reality area where we can use that technology for training and product development.
