3D Printer Enclosure LPE

July 21, 2016 | By Don Musilli | In Blog

LPE Enclosure Sales DataAs a Reseller for the LulzBot TAZ series of 3D Printers we found that many schools, libraries, manufacturing firms, design labs and entrepreneurs loved the overall capabilities of the TAZ printers and their ability to print in over 50 different materials. In addition, the reliability and Open Source nature of their program makes this US based company one of the best in the 3D Printer world.

FDM printers have two high temperature parts, the printing nozzle and the heated bed. These generate a fair amount of heat and when used in schools or public operations can be a concern for small hands reaching into the printing mechanisms. In addition, there is some level of noise generated by the printers and if they are used in a school, library or on your desk, the noise can be a distraction.

The LiteWorld Protective Enclosure is an aluminum framed, plexiglass enclosure that is 38″ wide, 30″ deep and 32″ high. It has two hinged doors that open the entire width of the unit and it will comfortably hold two TAZ Mini units or one TAZ 6 Printer. With plexiglass on all four sides and the top you can view the printer operation from any angle. In addition, there is a fan and filter section mounted on the back panel of the enclosure that allows for the exchange of fresh air into the enclosure with the removal of odors through the carbon media filter located at the fan discharge. This exchange of air also allows for maintaining an enclosure interior temperature of 85 degrees C. In addition, when printing large objects from ABS, the enclosure minimizes the the rapid cooling and de-lamination that can take place when printing with ABS.

One of the main advantages of the LPE is the ability to reduce the printer noise level down to 38 dbA at 1 foot from the unit. This means you can run the printers in a classroom, library, office complex, bedroom, etc and be able to have a normal conversation or phone call without any disruption. The other benefit is the elimination of someone, especially children, from putting their hands on the heated bed ( which can reach 110 Degrees C ) or the print head which can reach up to 290 Degrees C.

At a price of $575.00 plus $35.00 shipping, these enclosures are a great product at a reasonable price and are lightweight and very sturdy.
