Materials Used In 3D Printing At Liteworld LLC
PLA. Polyactid Acid. Bioplastic material, made from plant materials or cornstarch. One of the more commonly used materials. It is often used for prototyping and/or final products depending on the application.
ABS. Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene is one of the more popular materials used in cooking utensils, small boat hulls, parts replacement and weight bearing objects. It is a petroleum – based material so it is one of the only materials we can post-process to a high gloss finish using Acetone vapor.
PETg. In the world of plastics, polyethylene terephthalate glycol has emerged as a popular and versatile material that combines the desirable properties of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and glycol modification, resulting in a plastic that offers excellent clarity, impact resistance, and processability. This material is also food safe and is the primary material used in making the water bottles used every day.
TPU. Thermoplastic polyurethan is a material with many properties, including flexibility, strength, and resistance to chemicals, heat, and abrasion. TPU is a good choice for many industrial applications. It is flexible and can bend without breaking. It can be stretched and then retain its original shape It is resistant to oils, chemicals, greases and many solvents. Often used for hinges, bumper parts, chair and table leg bottoms, jars, cups, and hoses.
Polycaronate. Polycarbonate (PC) is a lightweight, strong, and transparent plastic with many useful properties. PC is 6 times lighter than glass & 250 times stronger and maintains its properties over a wide range of temperatures. It is resistant to many greases, waxes and oils. It is flame resistant. It is great for many part replacement applications.
Nylon. A is strong and durable and nylon thread is stronger than steel wire. Nylon is very elastic, which makes it flexible and useful for products that need to bend or snap. It is often used in the making of gears due to its wearability. Prints tough, shatter-resistant, functional parts and is capable or replacing many CNC parts.
NylonX: is an engineering grade nylon filament which is blended with chopped carbon fibers (approximately 20% by weight), creating a high-strength filament capable of printing tough, shatter-resistant, functional parts. Many of these parts can replace parts now made using CNC machines
Multi-Colored Parts. With the use of new 3D Printers with Combo MMS systems we can print up to 8 different colors for one part.
